Teton Bull Elk
A bull elk looking to defend his herd of cows in the shadows of the Grand Teton mountains.
This was taken on the last day of our trip to Grand Teton National Park in fall of 2023. After an early breakfast, we headed to this spot and after just a half hour wait, two Elk bulls appeared on scene. This was rutting season, so a younger bull fancied to take a chance on this big guy’s harem. Needles to say, he was not amused and started heading towards his challenger, who realized he would not stand a chance and took off. Just before that, the big bull stopped right in front of the Grand Teton mountains, which gives this perfect composition. This was a perfect wrap for our trip, so we packed up and got on our way back home.
